Dr. Ichigaki was a scientist who exploited three martial arts students by poisoning their master. He then presented himself and offered to heal their master if they agreed to participate in an experiment of his. As a result, these students were transformed into Makai minions (often referred to as M1, M2, or Dr. Ichigaki's minions). Despite losing the tournament, he later developed a serum called "Instant Gene Therapy," which rapidly enhanced him into a monstrous form. However, Yusuke quickly defeated this new version of Dr. Ichigaki. In the manga, it is confirmed that he is still alive.
