A young pilot named viola has joined the british army's high-altitude reconnaissance and surveillance (hars) unit, bahram, as an experienced lev pilot. she is tasked with testing a new experimental weapon called idolo in order to regain mars independence. the prototype frame of idolo is codenamed "orbital frame" and radium lavans is also involved in the testing process. while most of the testing is left to radium, viola gets to conduct one test run of the frame. however, during the flight, idolo rejects her control, causing it to crash and injuring her left arm. after a medical examination, she's diagnosed with space radiation sickness (srs) due to radiation exposure 13 years ago during an attack on mars by unsf. despite this setback, viola continues with her military duties as bahram lev pilot. she is secretly in love with her friend radium and becomes part of a group tasked with destroying idolo after it goes rogue. however, when radium turns against the mission, viola loses all sense of purpose and becomes a hollow shell of her former self.
