Miyori Mashima

Miyori is an 11-year-old girl who lives in a rural village due to her parents' discord. Her mother leaves, forcing her to stay at her grandparents' house. Despite her father believing it would be better for her in the natural surroundings of the village rather than the city, Miyori becomes more obstinate and feels abandoned. One day, while exploring nearby woods, she encounters mysterious spirits that tell her she is chosen to become the guardian of the village forest. Initially hesitant, Miyori gradually opens up and grows into a responsible and strong girl. She learns to work with her schoolmates and the spirits to protect the forest from those who plan to destroy it by constructing a dam.
