Hasegawa Taizou was a member of a wealthy Bakufu official's family who married into a poorer samurai family. Despite coming from a higher social status, she humbled herself and knelt to beg for forgiveness on behalf of her husband at the superior's house, even though the superior was of lower rank than her own family.
