Genyuumaru was a prisoner of Orochimaru who had to fight against his fellow prisoners for freedom. When he won, he discovered that his body would become Orochimaru's next vessel. Despite knowing there was no escape from this fate, Genyuumaru asked for the release of his imprisoned clan members. In Part II, after his body began to reject Orochimaru and he tried to take Sasuke Uchiha's body, Genyuumaru appeared in Orochimaru's subconscious along with the souls of his former host bodies.
