In the first episode of the series, Jason Beck, also known as "Gold," is revealed to be Dorothy's kidnapper. After being humiliated during the case, he seeks revenge on Roger by trying to embarrass him in return. Despite his clumsy and erratic behavior at times, Beck proves to be intelligent, coming up with creative ideas and demonstrating great skill as a mechanical designer. Throughout the series, he constructs a powerful megadeus from scratch, collaborates on designing another, creates an accurate replica of Roger's torso, head, and vocal cords, and is even approached by Alex Rosewater to modify Big Fau.
