Meme is a middle-aged man who resides in an abandoned building. He possesses extensive knowledge in the field of apparitions and helps Koyomi and others with their problems. Although he sometimes expects compensation, he does not always require it and appears to assist those in need out of goodwill. Due to his vast understanding of supernatural studies and unusual phenomena, Meme serves as Araragi's informant during his stay in the city. On the other hand, Oshino is a graduate of Shinto studies but did not pursue a career as a Shinto priest. Despite this, he has the ability to perform spiritual tasks associated with being a Shinto priest, such as exorcising entities and solving paranormal mysteries. He occasionally wears a Priest's outfit, like during his session with Senjougahara and the heavy crab. Meme's other notable accessories include an earring on his right ear and a necklace, both featuring an inverted cross.
