The Adventurer, also known as Fisher Tiger, founded the Sunny Pirates and led them before Jinbei took over. He climbed up Red Line cliffs with bare hands and freed slaves there from Tenryuubito oppression. Although he initially despised humans, Tiger did not discriminate against any race of slave. Among these liberated were Boa Hancock and her sisters. Tiger changed the branding on their feet that symbolized slavery into a sun mark and welcomed them into his crew. Thus, the Sunny Pirates came to be. Unfortunately, at some point in time, Fisher Tiger passed away, leaving Jinbei as commanding officer of the Sunny Pirates.
