In the stories Don't Stay Gold and Tadayoedo Shizumazu, Saredo Naki mo Sezu, as well as its sequel Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai, Yashiro is a sadomasochist who desires to be viewed in an obscene manner. Despite appearing cheerful on the outside, he is a broken man with a history of abuse and has no interest in repairing his emotional detachment from others. After completing high school, Yashiro takes over as leader of Shinseikai, a yakuza group affiliated with Doushinkai. Although attracted to his new attendant and bodyguard Doumeki, Yashiro pushes away those he cares about due to past unrequited love experiences.
