Jenova was an extraterrestrial being who arrived on Gaia thousands of years ago and caused harm to the planet. She infected the Ancients with her cells, transforming them into monstrous creatures. Eventually, she was defeated and killed by the remaining Cetra. Her cells can act as a virus when injected into humans, granting them power. All members of SOLDIER received a portion of Jenova's cells. Initially, Jenova appeared as a blue/purple skinned woman, but it is confirmed that she can take on any form, including the appearance of Sephiroth.
