Sakura Mei (佐倉愛衣) is a skilled Ministra Magi underclassman at Mahora Academy who studies from a North American mage academy before the festival. She has an affinity for fire magic, using her broomstick as both a combat weapon and transportation device. Along with Takane and Gandolfini, she tried to arrest Chao but was released on Negis behalf. During the Mahora Festival Arc, Mei entered the fighting tournament alongside Takane in order to discipline Negi. However, she was quickly defeated by Kotarō who had to rescue her from drowning. After magic became public, Mei faced constant press attention. She joined Takane in their mission to arrest Negis group but was easily defeated and stripped bare. Nodoka used her Pactio artifact to find out where Negi has been held, while Asuna comforted Mei by promising to return the world back to normal. Later, Mei entered the battle against Chaos robot army with encouragement from Kotarō, but he was too busy with his own training to provide personal assistance. Natsumi Murakami displayed signs of jealousy when Kotaro spoke to Mei, though it's unclear how Mei and Kotaro feel about each other at this time.
