A japanese breed of dog known as a kishu was adopted by bincho-tan after he followed her to her home in the woods. he was found wandering without a collar and was given one made from a large nut seen in the series. additionally, he was provided with a kennel constructed using an invention from chiku-tan that broke and failed to function properly. after being named saji, which means "trifle," bincho explains to kunugi that she chose this name because it seemed as though the dog had been neglected or discarded, much like a trifle.
