In the Highschool of the Dead anime, a character resembling Shaun from the English zombie film Shaun of the Dead is briefly seen, staring vacantly across the room and unaware of the outbreak. His design and name are inspired by Shaun Riley, the main character in that movie who often appears to be disconnected from his surroundings. Additionally, he shares both his appearance and name with Simon Pegg, the actor who portrays Shaun in the film.
