Clive was an aristocrat who became the leader of the Zofia liberation army known as the Deliverance after being ousted from his position in the Order of Zofia during a coup d'état orchestrated by Chancellor Desaix, with the suggestion of his lover Mathilda. Clive and the Deliverance were forced to take refuge in a cursed graveyard, which they used as their makeshift headquarters. During one of the battles, Mathilda and Clair were kidnapped, causing Clive to question his leadership abilities and resulting in the defeat of the army. When Alm and his group arrived at the Deliverance Hideout, Clive welcomed them warmly, grateful for rescuing his sister. However, Clive was disappointed that Mycen would not join the rebellion, but decided to cede the leadership of the Deliverance to Alm, who he believed was better suited to lead the commoners due to his grandson's story of rising above his common birth to become a knight and count of Zofia. Fernand was outraged by this decision and abandoned the Deliverance on the spot rather than follow a common villager like Alm.
