In Part 7 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Steel Ball Run, Diego Brando (commonly known as Dio) is a professional jockey from England who participates in the race across North America. Despite being similar to the "original" Dio in appearance and personality, Diego was raised among homeless people after his mother saved him from drowning when he was an infant. He later became part of nobility due to his talent as a jockey. Although loved by those who raised him, Diego is cold-hearted and will do whatever it takes to win. After losing the first stage of Steel Ball Run to Gyro Zeppeli, Dio becomes angry and considers Gyro his personal enemy.
