Ribi was appointed as consul to gen province by shoryu. although she knew that her assignment meant putting her life at risk because she would be under the protection of provincial lords, she accepted it out of respect for the king's trust in her. despite being ranked low, she was chosen over shoryu's advisor shukou due to her calm demeanor. however, with atsuyu's rebellion, ribi was arrested and imprisoned by the regent. when enki was also captured, a spell was cast on them that linked their foreheads with a stone and thread. if one person's thread was snapped, the other would die. despite enki's disrespectful remarks towards shoryu, ribi defended him and explained how she had been appointed as consul to gen province and why certain trusted individuals were placed in government positions by shoryu. as a competent and respected official, ribi was promoted to a high position but was sent to a distant post away from court politics that could harm her reputation. in order to free enki from being held hostage and prevent atsuyu from hindering shoryu's actions, ribi deliberately snapped the thread on enki's forehead and sacrificed herself and the infant child.
