The cyborg known as Rensa was created for the emergency event when all Level 5 Espers threatened to rebel against Academy City, with the purpose of suppressing them by utilizing their abilities or copying other Espers' powers. Since she is only a mechanical body, small portions of people's brains can be inserted into her in order to control her. There are currently 40 individuals who have volunteered to have their brain reduced to a minimal size so they could take turns controlling Rensa. Only #28 and #29 were shown in action during the event.
