A man named Kakujii is a villager of Byakko. He teaches swordplay to both Tatara and Sarasa. In addition to being their instructor, he also acts as a surrogate father figure for Sarasa, whom she trusts greatly. Originally from a fishing village in Tohoku, Kakujii was imprisoned in Abashiri Prison after opposing the Black King's rule there. He eventually escaped and found his way to Byakko Village.
