Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese automobile manufacturer headquartered in Tokyo. It was founded in 1970 from the automotive division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In 2011, it was the sixth-largest Japanese automaker and 19th-largest worldwide by production. Today, it is one-third owned by Nissan and included in the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Additionally, it was once part of the largest industrial group in Japan, known as Mitsubishi keiretsu. However, this subsidiary is now owned by Daimler Truck, with Mitsubishi retaining a small stake.
