In Japan, there was an anime production company called Tsuchida Production (土田プロダクション, Tsuchida Purodakushon). This company was founded in 1976 by Osamu Tsuchida after he left Studio Yuni. Its main focus was on animation production, contract work related to anime production, finish animation, and other related tasks. The company gained popularity after working on Captain Tsubasa in 1983. However, during the mid-1980s economic downturn, Tsuchida Production faced financial difficulties and went bankrupt in July 1986 due to being unable to repay its investors and toy manufacturers with whom it was working. Some of its employees later formed Studio Comet.
