A new fully-owned subsidiary called NK Animation has been established by Nikkatsu to manage its animation-related business activities such as planning, production, and promotion.
Nikkatsu, a well-known movie company, recently created NK Animation as part of their organizational changes. NK Animation is fully owned by Nikkatsu and will handle their animation business. It was established with a capital of 50 million yen (approximately US$333,000). Naoki Sato, who is both the president of Nikkatsu and NK Animation, will lead NK Animation as its CEO.
The new company, NK Animation, focuses on creating and promoting animated works as well as related businesses. Its goal is to enhance management effectiveness by combining resources and promoting growth opportunities.
Nikkatsu was founded in 1912, and is the oldest movie studio and theater operator in Japan.
Nikkatsu is involved in the production of anime series such as My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! , By the Grace of the Gods , and Girlfriend, Girlfriend . Nikkatsu also produced live-action film adaptations such as Gantz and Gantz II: Perfect Answer , Kimi ni Todoke , the 1970 Tomorrow's Joe film, the Death Note film and its sequel films Death Note: The Last Name and Death Note Light up the NEW world , and the spinoff live-action film L change the WorLd .
