Street Fighter 6 Gets Switch 2 Release, Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, amiibo
Game launches for Switch 2 on June 5
On Wednesday, it was revealed by CAPCOM through the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct live broadcast that Street Fighter 6 will be available for download on June 5th, which is also the day when the console will be released.
Capcom has announced that they will release both a Standard Edition and a special edition of Street Fighter 6 on various gaming platforms including Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The special edition, known as the "Street Fighter 6 Year 1-2 Fighters Edition," includes all characters and stages from the first two years of the game for a total of 26 characters and 26 stages. Additionally, these characters will have multiple outfit color options available.

On June 5th, the game on Switch 2 will have unique gameplay modes that haven't been seen before. Additionally, there will be new amiibos available that can be used with this game. These include figures of Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly.
The original game launched in June 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam .
In this version of the game, there is now a live commentary function that features renowned members of the fighting game community providing insights into the match as it unfolds. This feature offers subtitles in 13 different languages. Among the commentators are Thea Trinidad (also known as Zelina Vega), Vicious, Aru, Kōsuke Hiraiwa, who is a Japanese commentator and caster, and Demon Kakka (formerly Demon Kogure), who is also part of Sekima II band frontman Demon Kakka.
Street Fighter V has several familiar faces in its roster such as Ryu, Chun-li, and Luke, while also introducing newcomer Jamie, who is a breakdancing kickboxer. Additionally, Manon, Kimberly, Marisa, Lily, JP, Juri, Dee Jay, Cammy, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Zangief, and Dhalsim are also included in the launch roster.
In December 2023, players could buy new costumes for 18 characters. Additionally, they could purchase individual characters from the first batch of DLC characters, which included Rashid, Akuma, Ed, and A.K.I. Alternatively, they could buy all these characters in a season pass.
On February 5th, Mai Shiranu was added as a new character in the game's roster. She is a character from SNK's Fatal Fury game series and is part of the game's Year 2 Character Pass as its third character. Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury was also added as the second character for the Year 2 Character Pass on September 24th. M. Bison debuted as the first character in this pass on June 26th. Elena from Street Fighter will be the fourth character in this spring season.
Nintendo will release the new Switch 2 console worldwide on June 5.
