New Touhou Kinjōkyō: Fossilized Wonders entry to be traditional bullet-hell game
On Saturday, ZUN, the founder of Shanghai Alice and creator of Touhou Project series, revealed that he is working on a new game for his series. This game is the 20th installment in the main series and is called Touhou Kinjōkyō: Fossilized Wonders.
According to ZUN, this new game will offer players the chance to experience the classic bullet-hell style while also providing a more comfortable playing experience. Players will need to gather eight unique stones before facing off against enemies. Reimu and Marisa will be the main characters in the game. ZUN will launch the game at Comiket 106 on August 16-17 with a demo available at "Hakurei Jinja Reitaisai" on May 5. Additionally, the game will be released on Steam.
The 19th installment of the primary series, "Touhou Juuouen ~ Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghosts," was released. ( link ) The video game will be available on Steam with Japanese language support starting from August 2023. It was simultaneously released at Comiket 102 event in the same month. This game features competitive split-screen gameplay where characters dodge attack patterns while attacking their opponents.
In 1995, Shanghai Alice launched their initial game for the Touhou series on PC-98. Since then, several main games have been developed, along with numerous spin-offs and fan-generated works that draw from characters and storylines within the series.
In May 2015, Touhou: Double Dealing Character was launched by Playism as the initial English-speaking release of any game from the Touhou Project series. Since then, fan-made games based on the franchise have been released by Playism, NIS America, and XSEED Games.
