Seishun Buta Yarō wa Beach Queen no Yume wo Minai+ short story collection to include new story "Seishun Buta Yarō wa Tropical Summer no Yume wo Minai"
On July 10th, Kadokawa will release a new Seishun Buta Yarō light novel series titled Seishun Buta Yarō wa Beach Queen no Yume wo Minai+ (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Beach Queen+). The original character designer of the series, Keeji Mizoguchi, will be responsible for drawing the illustrations. This collection will include an all-new story called "Seishun Buta Yarō wa Tropical Summer no Yume wo Minai" (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Tropical Summer).
The short story collection centers on the day of the Minegahara High School's sports festival. Sakuta Azusagawa decides to cheer for the blue team, but then gets ordered to fill in as a member of the ball tossing team. Sakuta is asked to fill in for his classmate and junior beach volleyball player Minagi Ōtsu.
In Japan, the 15th volume of the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Girlfriend series was published in August 2024. This concludes the storyline of this popular manga. ( link ) On October 10th, the manga series "Seishun Buta Yarō wa Dear Friend no Yume wo Minai" (Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dream Friend) was released with its first volume. This edition included a bonus drama CD as part of its limited edition packaging.
In April 2014, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai ( Seishun Buta Yarō wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai ) was released as the first novel by Kadokawa in Hajime Kamoshida's series. This series marked its 10th anniversary in 2024. Over 3 million copies of this series are currently available in circulation (not including sales).
Yen Press is releasing the novel series in English.
The anime series "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai" was released in Japan in October 2018 and consisted of 13 episodes. It was based on a light novel series with the same name. Aniplex of America made it available for streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and other platforms. It covered up to the fifth volume of the light novel series.
The anime movie "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl," which is based on the sixth and seventh volumes in the franchise, was released in Japan in June 2019. It was also shown in the United States by Aniplex of America and Funimation Films.
An anime adaptation of the eighth and ninth books in the series "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" and "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid" is being made.
In June 2023, the movie "The Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" was released in Japan. During its first three days, it sold 118,108 tickets and made 175,648,924 yen (approximately US$1.22 million at current exchange rates), placing it at #4 on the opening weekend chart.
In Japan, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid premiered in December 2023 at 103 theaters. It made its debut then. ( link ) In its first three days of release, the movie made approximately $1.13 million by selling 119,000 tickets. It was ranked fourth during its debut weekend.
In March 2024, Aniplex of America will showcase the movies in U.S. cinemas with both English subtitles and a dubbed version in English.
The TV series adaptation of the "University Student Arc" from the novels will be called Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus (Seishun Buta Yarō wa Santa Claus no Yume wo Minai). It will be released in July.
