Entotsu-chō no Poupelle ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~ based on Akihiro Nishino's 2019 picture book
On Tuesday, the official site for Studio 4°C's anime movie version of their picture book "Poupelle of Chimney Town" (Entotsu-chō no Poupelle) disclosed information about the planned sequel. This sequel movie is titled "Entotsu-chō no Poupelle ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~" (The Promised Clock Tower) and is set to be released in spring 2026. To announce these details, the site shared a "special video" as well as an illustration from Nishino.

The movie is inspired by the 2019 publication of Nishino's Tick-Tock ~Yakusoku no Tokeidai~ graphic novel.
Again, Nishino is in charge of overseeing the movie's creation and writing its screenplay, while Hirota directs it at Studio 4°C.
At a panel in Anime NYC in 2023, Nishino stated that the sequel would be very different from the first movie, with the plot revolving around a town with a clock tower stopped at 11:59. There is a conflict in the town between the people protecting the tower and the people hoping to fix it. In contrast to the first film's theme, which Nishino said was "Let's go, get this," he said the second film's theme would be the opposite, "wait patently."
After the announcement of the sequel at Animation is Film Festival in October 2021, ANN had conversations with Nishino and director Yusuke Hirota. During these discussions, they confirmed that there would be more films in the future of the Poupelle franchise.
In January 2022, Eleven Arts started showing Poupelle of Chimney Town in North America. The movie depicts the story.
Poupelle of Chimney Town is the story of young Lubicchi living among the thick smoke from the chimneys of his isolated town, yearning to see the “stars” —to know the truth —his father always told him about. One Halloween night he meets Poupelle, a man made of garbage, and together they look to the sky as their adventure begins. Spectacularly beautiful, filled with inspiring performances and splendid music and sound effects, and produced at Tokyo's famed Studio 4ºC, Poupelle of Chimney Town brings laughter, tears and joy.
In Japan, the movie premiered in December 2020 and reached fourth place with a weekend gross of approximately US$3.13 million (322,998,700 yen).
Hirota served as CGI director for Berserk films while Nishino was in charge of production supervision, original creation, writing, and design of characters. Fukushima was responsible for character design in Genius Party and Robot Carnival.
