Kakegurui's Homura Kuwamoto Launches New Manga

On Sunday, the manga Kenka Oji-san - Namo Naki Chūnen, Tsuyo Sugiru was launched on Kakao Japan 's Piccoma service by Homura Kawamoto, who is known for their work on Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler .

Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler is a manga series created by Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura that was first published in Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine in March 2014. It tells the story of a high school student named Mary who becomes addicted to gambling after joining her school's gambling club. The manga was later adapted into an anime series that ran from July to September 2017 in Japan and premiered outside of Japan on Netflix in February 2018. The anime also inspired a live-action show that premiered in Japan in January 2018 and is currently streaming on Netflix. A live-action film based on the manga opened in May 2019, with a sequel film set to release in June 2021 after two COVID-19 delays.
High Card is an anime series that was created by Kawamoto and Hikaru Muno in collaboration with publisher TMS. It was first released in January 2023, followed by a second season in January 2024.

In March of this year, artists Kawamoto and Nadainishi released their latest project "Bōryoku Banzai" (Hooray for Violence) in Weekly Young Magazine from Kodansha. This is a serialization of their one-shot story from last year titled "Koroshi to Uso no Marriage" (Marriage of Murder and Lies). "Koroshi to Uso no Marriage" was initially published as a one-shot in the Young Magazine Kakehiki supplement in April 2024. It was later announced that the serialization of this story would begin in November of last year in the main Young Magazine.
