2-part film compilation of 1st IDOLiSH7 season opens in Japan on October 3, December 5
Crunchyroll will stream both parts of the IDOLiSH7 season film compilation, as announced by Bandai Namco Filmworks during their panel at Anime Expo on Friday.
The first part will open in Japan on October 3, and the second will premiere on December 5.
In January 2018, Japan released the first TV anime adaptation of the IDOLiSH7 mobile game. It consisted of 17 episodes and was broadcasted online by Crunchyroll as it was being released. Following this, in February 2018, a spinoff series of net anime shorts called IDOLiSH7 Vibrato was launched.
In April 2020, the primary anime series released its second season. Prior to that, the first episode was shown before the rest of the season in January 2020 on Crunchyroll, which also streamed the episode on the same day. Crunchyroll also broadcasted the anime as it was being released in Japan. However, the release of the second season was delayed until the fifth episode due to COVID-19. After that, it resumed with episode three in October 2020 on Crunchyroll.
IDOLiSH7 Third Beat! , the third IDOLiSH7 anime season , ran for two split cours (quarters of the year). The first half of the season premiered in July 2021. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired. The new episodes of the anime's second half started in October 2022. The anime had 30 total episodes. The anime's 26th episode aired in December 2022, and then episodes 27-30 aired for four consecutive weeks in February 2023.
In May 2023, the IDOLiSH7 movie was released in Japan and earned $1.58 million in its opening weekend. It went on to make over $5 million in total revenue and sold 440,000 tickets in its first 22 days in theaters. This success coincided with the franchise's eighth anniversary in June of that year. Crunchyroll streamed the anime concert for the franchise.
