45th volume ships on July 23 with manga running for nearly 18 years
According to Amazon, the 46th volume of Space Brothers ( Uchū Kyōdai ) manga will be the final installment in the series. It has been announced that the 45th volume will be released on July 23rd with its cover indicating that it will be the last volume in the series.
In January 2022, Koyama announced his plans to begin the final arc of his manga. Then, in December 2022, he stated that the manga was now at its final stage and the ending was imminent.
Two siblings, Mutta and Hibito, made a childhood promise to journey into space together. While Hibito achieved this goal by becoming an astronaut, Mutta did not. Then, Mutta's life took a turn on a significant day.
In 2007, Koyama introduced his manga in Morning magazine. That same year, his work received recognition in two prestigious awards: the General categories of both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Awards and the 35th Kodansha Manga Awards.
The anime series and film were both based on the manga series "Space Brothers". Additionally, the 29th volume of the manga included a special edition DVD of the anime film "Space Brothers #0". Koyama wrote the scripts for the "origin story" film.
Crunchyroll broadcasted the Japanese TV series and released new manga chapters simultaneously with Kodansha's publication in Japan until January 2023 when they stopped streaming Kodansha titles. Kodansha USA Publishing is currently releasing digital compilations of these series in English. Sentai Filmworks distributed the TV series in North America and also licensed the Space Brothers film for release there.
