Film earns US$1.3 million on Wednesday, US$1.2 million on Thursday
According to Box Office Mojo, the compilation film of the "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" arc from the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen's television anime grossed US$2,551,167 in its first two days in the US.
GKIDS purchased the anime for distribution in the US and showed it in cinemas on July 16th and 17th. It was available in both subtitled and dubbed versions. The movie made $1,344,162 on July 16th and $1,207,005 on July 17th, placing it at #4 and #5 respectively.
During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Crunchyroll declared that they would showcase the film in several regions including France, Germany, the U.K., Latin America, and Australia this summer. They will offer both Japanese versions with subtitles and dubbed formats for viewers' convenience. Further information about release dates and other specifics will be made available at a later time.
On May 30th, the movie was launched in Japan and it occupied the fourth position during its initial weekend. It sold approximately 138,000 tickets and generated around US$1.36 million in revenue within the first three days of release.
Tatsuya Kitani sang "Ao no Sumika," which is the anime's second season opening theme song, in an acoustic version for the movie.
In Japan, the anime's second season started in July 2023 and lasted for two quarters or half a year. It covered both "Hidden Inventory / Premature Death" ("Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu") and "Shibuya Incident" arcs from the manga. Crunchyroll broadcasted the season as it was released in Japan and also offers an English dub version for streaming.
