Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise Film's Teaser Unveils Cast, More Staff
Rihito Itagaki, Tomoya Nakamura star in December 5 film with music by Kenji Kawai
On Tuesday, the main cast and additional staff members were unveiled in a new teaser trailer for the anime movie adaptation of Kazuyoshi Takeda's manga series "Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise" (also known as "Peleliu: Rakuen no Guernica"). Additionally, a key visual was also released.
In the picture, Rihito Itagaki portrays HIroshi Tamaru, who is known for his benevolent nature as a manga artist. On the other hand, Tomoya Nakamura embodies Keisuke Yoshiki, Tamaru's dependable companion.

The film will open in Japan on December 5.
The anime adaptation of "Chained Soldier" is being directed by Gorō Kuji at Shinei Animation and Fugaku. Junji Nishimura, who is also the chief director of "Chained Soldier" and scriptwriter of "A Lull in the Sea," "True Tears," and "GLASSLIP," is collaborating with Kazuyoshi Takeda, the original manga creator of "Chained Soldier," on writing the screenplay. Toei is responsible for distributing the film.
The anime adaptation was first announced in April 2021.
In 2016, Takeda started publishing a manga series called "Young Animal" that was written by Masao Hiratsuka. This series ended in April 2021 after releasing 11 volumes. It was nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2021 and won an award at the Japan Cartoonist Awards in 2017.
The manga takes place ( link ) In World War II, there was a prolonged conflict fought on the island of Peleliu in Palau between Japan and the United States. This occurred in the summer of 1944. Peleliu was known for its stunning coral reefs and lush forests. Tamaru was a soldier who dreamed of becoming a manga artist. Through his manga, Tamaru depicted his daily life amidst the intense fighting between Japan's roughly 10,000 soldiers and the United States' 50,000 soldiers. The manga explored themes such as what motivated soldiers to fight so far from home on such a small island.
In Young Animal magazine from Hakusensha, there was a spin-off of the manga called "Peleliu Gaiden," which was introduced. ( link ) March 2022. The spinoff is slated to end in the fourth volume around July 2025.
