Samurai Pizza Cats Anime Inspires New Comic Series

On Thursday, before their Anime NYC panel, Nakama Press and Mad Cave Studios, along with Tatsunoko Production, revealed that they are collaborating on a new comic based on the Samurai Pizza Cats anime series. Written by Fred Kennedy and featuring illustrations by Lorenzo Di Santo, this middle-grade comic will include lettering by Charles Pritchett and a colored cover by Antonio Antro. Samurai Pizza Cats Volume 1 is set for release on April 7, 2026.

Welcome back to Little Tokyo, pizza lovers! And what a sizzling situation you've walked into! The Big Cheese is up to his stinky shenanigans again! This time, he's using fish sticks to lull our fair city into a crispified, fish-laden catastrophe! And that's just the first couple of pages... and let me tell you, when this kitten starts purring, there's no telling where it'll wind up! Rock concerts, pizza sauce, reality TV, evil spirits, hammocks, mecha -spiders, and even... Vikings! You read that right, buck-o, VIKINGS!!! So, toss on your tennis shoes and slap on a sweatband because you're in for a wild ride with this one! Also... be sure to stretch; I don't want you blowing out your hammies!
In 2026, on all major platforms including PC via Steam, a new action RPG game called Samurai Pizza Cats : Blast from the Past! will be released in honor of its anime's 35th anniversary. Both the English and Japanese cast members will return for the game trailer. Satoru Akahori, who wrote the anime script, will oversee the Japanese trailer script.

DiscoTek launched the show in standard definition format on Blu-ray disc. Prior to that, they had only made it available as a dubbed DVD set. Additionally, they also released the Japanese version of the show, Kyatto-Ninden Teyandee, as a complete and uncut DVD set with English subtitles.
In the 1990s, there was a science fiction anime called "Tatsunoko" which focused on Nyankii (Samurai Pizza Cats), a secret ninja team that safeguarded Edoropolis (Little Tokyo) from Karakara, an evil ninja organization. Saban Entertainment later licensed and broadcasted this series in the US on television.
