App offers controls for access to content, spending limits, activity reports
On Wednesday, Sony unveiled the PlayStation Family App through a trailer. This application enables parents to regulate gaming time and restrict access to specific games.
The app contains the following features:
- Easy setup for account creation with control over age-appropriate content
- Customizable playtime to control access to games
- Activity reports of gaming activity for members of the app
- Real-time notifications of play requests
- Social interactions with privacy controls
- Spending limits and account balances
The app is available now on iOS and Android.
In November 2020, the PlayStation 5 (PS5) was released in several countries including the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea on November 12th. The console was made available to the rest of the world on November 19th. In the US, the standard PS5 cost US$499.99 while the Digital Edition, which lacked an optical disc drive, was sold for US$399.99. It was announced that a smaller model of the PS5 would replace the previous one in various regions from November 2023 to early December of the same year.
The Sony PlayStation 5 Pro was released in November with several advanced features such as Spectral Super Resolution for enhanced image clarity, support for 120 frames per second (FPS), advanced ray tracing technology, 2 terabytes of solid-state drive (SSD) storage, and an upgraded GPU with improved memory performance (28% faster).
