For three days in a row, Maron Marquis was at the top of Kakao Page's webtoon rankings with a supported title.
KOCCA, which is part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recently declared that they will launch the "2025 Global Webtoon IP Production Support Project" in order to speed up the international growth of K-webtoons.
The program has been successful in producing outcomes. One of the initial comics backed by it was published on Kakao Page on August 14th and promptly became the top-ranked webtoon on the platform for three consecutive days.
There are 12 Korean studios participating in the program to create various new projects. KOCCA aims to release approximately 20 supported titles this year and a total of 40 by the first half of 2026 on both domestic and international markets.
The organization supports prominent adaptations of well-known novels, including Bernard Werber's Empire of the Ants webtoon version. Furthermore, KOCCA will showcase these titles at the upcoming World Webtoon Festival in October, increasing exposure among global audiences and partners in the industry.
To enhance the competitive edge of Korean creators and expand their presence in the worldwide content industry through direct support for webtoon production.
According to the source material, Maron Marquis was developed collaboratively among Hound, Zaya, and Milky Way. Unfortunately, there isn't currently an English translation available for it.
