Series launched in December 2019

On Thursday, it was announced that Kūbo Ibuki Great Game, a manga series by Kaiji Kawaguchi, will conclude in just 7 more chapters in this year's 19th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine.
The story takes place some time after the battle of Senkaku. The battle is a "great game" where the great powers compete for sovereignty.
In December 2019, the manga began appearing in Big Comic magazine. On September 30th, Shogakukan will release the 17th collected edition volume of the manga. As per the 19th issue of the manga, it will consist of 19 volumes in total.
In June 2020, the final volume of the Kūbo Ibuki manga was released. This marked the end of the series which began in Big Comic in collaboration with journalist Osamu Eya in 2014.
In January 2018, the manga received the Best General Manga accolade at the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Awards. Over 3 million copies of its volumes are in print. Additionally, this popular series inspired a live-action film adaptation that was released in 2019.
In November 2019, Kawaguchi concluded his work on the manga series titled "Zipang: Shinsō Kairyū". This manga is separate from his previous series "Zipang", which was a time-traveling war manga that he drew for Kodansha 's Morning magazine until 2009.
In North America, Kawaguchi's political manga Eagle was released by Viz Media. Central Park Media released a naval anime special called The , which was inspired by Kawaguchi's manga. Geneon Entertainment released the Zipang television anime based on Kawaguchi's work.
Two movies based on the popular manga "The " were released in Japan in 2023 and September 26th, respectively. Additionally, a sequel series titled "Chinmoku no Kantai Season 1: Tokyowan Daikaisen" (Silent Service Season 1: Battle of Tokyo Bay) was launched on Amazon Prime in February 2024.
