Harlequin Enterprises ULC, or just Harlequin, is a publishing company that specializes in romance and women's fiction. Founded in Winnipeg, Canada in 1949, it quickly grew into the world's largest publisher of romance fiction in the 1960s. In 1969, it moved its headquarters to Toronto and was owned by Torstar Corporation until 2014 when it was bought by News Corp and became part of HarperCollins. In 1971, Harlequin acquired Mills & Boon Limited and expanded globally with offices in Australia and major European markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Netherlands, and Scandinavia. In 2015, it launched its audiobook program.
