Makoto Kubota was a man who lived his life without taking things too seriously or delving too deeply into himself. He found joy in being the leader of Izumo Groups youth gang, which kept him busy with yakuza battles, mahjong games and assassinations. That is until he came across an unusual drug called Wild Adapter that caused strange side effects such as death. This event transformed Kubota's life, leading him to form a bond with Minoru Tokito, a drifter, which drew them further into the enigma surrounding Wild Adapter.

Wild Adapter had six volumes published in English by Tokyopop from February 13, 2007 to November 4, 2008. Before this, Chuang Yi had published four volumes in English, but they have since become defunct.
