An anthology containing six short stories, including the title story which takes place in the Klondike region during 1897. It tells of Jack London's chance encounter with an enigmatic old man. White Wilderness is also connected to Jack London - it's an adaptation of the early part of his novel "White Fang," where two men and their dog are relentlessly pursued by a pack of wolves. Our Mountains, set in Japan during the 1920s, follows an elderly hunter seeking revenge on the enormous bear that killed his son. Kaiyose-Jima is a nostalgic tale about a boy spending summer with relatives on the coast after his mother fell ill. Shôkarô recounts a mangaka's memories of living in a strange apartment building in Tokyo and meeting unusual people there. Return to the Sea tells of a marine biologist working along Alaska's coast who becomes obsessed with an elderly bowhead whale and Inuit tales of a whale cemetery.
Toudo no Tabibito was published in English as The Ice Wanderer and Other Stories by Ponent Mon / Fanfare on January 1, 2010. It was also published in Polish as Wędrowiec z tundry by Hanami.
