Born with bullying and debt issues due to cosplay obsession, Mitsuru Fukushima decides suicide to escape his miseries. However, he finds his deceased mother's body at his chosen spot. Intrigued by her luxurious possessions, he abandons his plans and assumes her identity. His dream of a glamorous life is shattered when he takes over her job as a new teacher at Teihen High School, one of the most dangerous schools in Japan. As a former student tormented by high school, Mitsuru struggles to escape but is hindered by his own clumsy attempts and a mysterious ghostly presence. Instead of escaping, he unintentionally helps his troubled students with their problems, glorifying his mother as a legendary teacher. However, it's later revealed that her death was not an accident; there's a killer lurking in Teihen High determined to bring Mitsuko back to the grave.

Serialization of Debusen initially started through the Manga Box app, but was moved to Young Magazine on October 6, 2014 (2014 #45).A 6-episode live-action drama adaptation was released on Hulu from August 21 to October 2, 2016.
