The Golden Kingdom is buried underground by an insane mage, who then promises all of his treasure to anyone who defeats him. This leads various guilds to search for the mage in a labyrinthine dungeon. Laios, head of one such guild, encounters a dragon that kills his party and eats his sister Falin. Despite losing everything, Laios, along with Marcille, an elven healer, and Chilchuck, a halfling thief, decides to reenter the dungeon to save Falin. With time running out, Laios suggests they eat the monsters of the dungeon for supplies. They are stopped by Senshi, a dwarf who enjoys cooking monsters, who helps them prepare their ingredients safely. After learning about Laios' situation, Senshi expresses interest in cooking a dragon and joins their guild, leading them on a food-filled journey through the dungeon together.

Dungeon Meshi ranked first in the 2016 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division.The series has been published in English as Delicious in Dungeon by Yen Press since May 23, 2017. It has also been published in Italian by J-Pop since May 2017 and in Spanish by Milky Way Ediciones since February 2017.
