The human body is made up of around 60 million different types of cells. these include white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, macrophages, memory cells, killer t cells, natural killer cells, b cells, and mast cells, among many others. all these cells work together to keep the body healthy by fighting off foreign substances like bacteria and viruses. this story from akane shimizu, who won the shounen sirius rookie of the year award, provides an engaging look at anthropomorphized versions of these cells.

Hataraku Saibou placed seventh in the male readers category in the 2016 edition of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! magazine.The series has been published in English as Cells at Work! by Kodansha Comics USA since November 1, 2016, and in French as Les brigades Immunitaires by Pika Editions since May 31, 2017.
