During middle school, Mai Kasai was part of a group that bullied fellow student Shino. Although she didn't directly participate in the abuse, she witnessed her friends doing it and remained silent. When her father got transferred to a new job, Mai moved from Tokyo to a rural high school where she thought she could have an easy time by manipulating the classroom hierarchy. However, things took a turn when Shino, who had also been bullied in middle school, was assigned as her classmate at the new school. Now, with a desire for revenge, Shino and Mai switched roles, with the former becoming the bully and the latter being the victim.
Kizudarake no Akuma was adapted into a live-action film which released in Japan on February 4, 2017.
