Fuyuzora kogarashi has a unique ability to see supernatural entities and has been possessed by ghosts since childhood. this has caused him numerous problems, but he has now learned how to combat evil spirits. despite his newfound skills, kogarashi is currently homeless and impoverished, seeking a more normal high school life. in his search for housing, he comes across yuragi manor, an inexpensive boarding house that was once a popular hot springs inn. the low cost of the house stems from its haunting by the spirit of a deceased high school student whose corpse was discovered there. although kogarashi is not deterred by this, he finds that yuragi manor's ghost, yuna, lives in his room. initially, kogarashi has no intention of harming her and instead agrees to help her resolve her unfinished business so she can move on to the afterlife before becoming evil and falling into hell. as it turns out, living in yuragi manor is far from ordinary as the other tenants also possess supernatural abilities.
