Kannagi no Tori

Kannagi-san is a place that connects the world of the living with the world of the dead. Here, beings known as "Kannagi no Tori" (Birds of Kannagi) reside and it's their duty to retrieve the souls of those who pass away and bring them to Kannagi-san for them to proceed to the afterlife. However, one "Kannagi no Tori," Ikaru, is different. He feels uneasy about death and often interferes with fate by preventing accidents or convincing people not to commit suicide. Despite his efforts, he has yet to retrieve a single soul. Ikaru is given a final mission to prove himself as a "Kannagi no Tori," and if he fails, he will cease to exist. His task is to retrieve the soul of a young boy named Watanaki Ruu who is set to die in a car accident on June 1st in about one month. Over this period, Ikaru interacts with Ruu and his family, developing an unusual bond with him. However, his fellow "Kannagi no Tori" friends urge him to complete his mission as they don't want to see their friend disappear. Additionally, they also have assignments involving individuals around Ruu. Will Ikaru be successful in completing his task or will he fail once again?
