In a society where people possess extraordinary abilities known as "quirks," it can be challenging to feel unique. this is especially true when public attention primarily focuses on professional heroes who are legally authorized to use their powers for the greater good. kouichi haimawari, born with an average quirk called "sliding" that keeps him grounded, initially felt like he could only admire these superhumans from afar. however, despite his limitations, kouichi found joy in using his quirk to perform small acts of kindness, such as returning lost items and assisting the elderly in crossing the street.
nevertheless, kouichi's tranquil existence was disrupted when he was saved from a violent confrontation by an illegal hero named knuckleduster. recognizing kouichi's potential to become a hero, knuckleduster recruited him to help track down the source of a dangerous drug called "trigger," which enhances users' quirks at the expense of their reasoning. this story takes place before the events of the original series, vigilante: boku no hero academia illegals, where kouichi chooses to embrace his inner villain and become a vigilante, working in secret to protect society from criminal activities that might otherwise surface.
