Tsurumi Asuta is a 17-year-old high school student who worked as an apprentice cook at his father's public diner, Tsurumi-ya. On one day, the shop caught fire and Asuta dove inside to save his father's prized santoku knife, which was said to represent his soul. When he awoke, he found himself in a strange jungle where he was attacked by a boar-like creature. However, he was saved by a girl named Ai Fa who claimed to be part of the "People of Morihen." It was then that Asuta realized he had been transported to another world.
