What is the distance that someone must travel before they need to descend? As they progress through their first year of junior high school, all students are gradually maturing. However, Akane Mizutani struggles with acting mature. During one chance encounter, she meets Tooru Tsukino, a classmate with rumors surrounding him that make him seem mysterious. Mizutani learns about Tsukino and his companion Hiki, leading her to form a bond with Tsukino on Monday nights at school. The story explores their relationship, the challenges of growing up, and uncovering one's true character.

Getsuyoubi no Tomodachi ranked fourth and 16th in the 2018 and 2019 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division, respectively.The series was published in French as En attendant lundi by Akata from October 21, 2021, to January 6, 2022.
