In Japan, a young man named Lelouch Lamperouge was granted a special ability called Geass by an unknown woman named C.C. This power allowed him to control the actions of others with absolute obedience. With this newfound strength, Lelouch decided to use his abilities for revenge against the Holy Britannian Empire, which had wronged him and his family. He took on the persona of Zero, a freedom-fighter, in order to carry out his plan.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch was published in English as Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion by Bandai Entertainment from November 4, 2008 to February 23, 2010.
