In the far-off future, unexpectedly, beings from another planet launch an assault on Earth with advanced technology known as "machine lifeforms." Humanity is forced to flee to the Moon due to this unprecedented danger. It is now 11941, and humanity is engaged in a relentless struggle against these machines. In response to the stalemate, the Council of Humanity creates a new unit of female android soldiers called YoRHa, who are sent to battle on Earth in an effort to regain it for humanity.
