A teenager named Yuji Sakai discovers that he has died and is now a "Torch," a temporary body for someone who has been erased. These Torches look like the person they're replacing but eventually disappear, leaving no memories behind. Despite this revelation, Yuji remains unphased and befriends a girl named Shana, who swears to protect him from those known as Denizens. These enemies seek to use Yuji's unique ability to upset the equilibrium of the world. Inspired by her loyalty, Yuji decides to join forces with Shana in their battle against the Denizens.

VIZ Media released the first 6 volumes in English from April 17, 2007 to September 21, 2010.
