Adachi is seeking a peaceful location on the second floor of the gym where she can relax during her absence from class. She anticipates that this area will be unoccupied. While there, she encounters Shimamura, marking the start of their companionship.

The first volume of Adachi to Shimamura was placed on School Library Journal's Top 10 Manga of 2021 list.The series has been released in English as Adachi and Shimamura by Yen Press since February 23, 2021.
